The design process of “Blast” was driven by the idea of a typeface that is responding to wind. In order to metaphorically provide a large surface that could be “attacked” by wind, I created a narrow, condensed variable typeface that also takes inspiration from letters and typography on ship sails. Besides an upright and a strongly tilted slanted style, the backslanted version gives “Blast” an extra load of dynamics—making it the perfect companion for a nautical trip.
